Buckingham Companies: Recycling and Waste Collection

The Buckingham Companies (https://buckinghamcompanies.com) collect waste and recycled items in residential areas on Wednesday of each week.

To ease access for the collection trucks and avoid damage to units, homeowners are asked to push the bins at least 3 feet away from the building (past the overhang), and at least 1 foot apart from each other. Please roll out waste and recycle bins AFTER 6:00 p.m. on the evening preceding pickup when possible.

Buckingham also picks up branches and yard waste from the 193 BHA Garage area. Residents are responsible for moving their yard waste to the pickup area near the Garage, either in brown paper bags or deposited as loose waste in the bins provided by Buckingham. Please contact the Grounds Committee if you encounter large branches or yard waste that would be challenging to move on your own.

NOTE: Waste and recycling collection will be delayed by ONE DAY for the following 2026 holidays (taking place on Thursdays—the day AFTER the normal pick-up day):

Memorial Day: Monday, May 25 (collection moved to Thursday, May 28)
Labor Day: Monday, September 7 (collection moved to Thursday, September 10)

In 2019-2020, Walker Roofing installed a GAF Lifetime Roofing System on all Birnamwood roofs.
All Birnamwood roofs are now covered by a transferable GAF Golden Pledge warranty. Walker Roofing handles GAF warranty issues, as well as any issues covered by Walker’s workmanship warranty. Contact Amelia Meyer, BHA Property Manager, to report any roofing-related problems. BHA manager will alert Walker Roofing, and Walker Roofing will contact the homeowner to schedule a roof inspection.

Walker Roofing installs Commdeck mounts required for satellite dish installation on our GAF roofing system. Complete the required satellite dish application under BHA Forms, and submit to BHA Property Manager Amelia Meyer.  ACC reviews and approves satellite dish applications. Once approved, you may contact Walker Roofing to arrange for Commdeck mount installation.

NOTE: Homeowners are responsible for any damage and related costs that are incurred due to a homeowner’s failure to address attic maintenance issues. Homeowners are responsible for ensuring that their attics are adequately insulated and all attic bypasses are sealed to meet code requirements and to ensure proper roof function.  No roof work that involves any alteration or damage to any portion of the GAF Lifetime Roofing System may be conducted without submitting an ACC application and receiving approval prior to conducting the work. A BHA representative will consult with Walker Roofing’s GAF representative to ensure that the proposed work will not void the GAF Golden Pledge warranty. Homeowners may choose to remove snow from their roofs ONLY using a roof rake on wheels. No shovel or roof rake blade is permitted to come into direct contact with the roofing shingles. If ice dams form, no pounding on ice dams is permitted, as this could damage the roofing system and void the BHA roof warranty. Steam removal of ice dams is allowed.
